In this week's video I share some of the questions that I started to have that led to me deconvert from christianity. I was a very committed wholehearted christian for about 7 years. 5:16 they tend to feel closer to the American Indian side than their Finnish side for the same NZ Maori and Australian Aboriginal will prefer to identify with their non European side - because being European ancestry has been demonized in the mainstream media and academia for decades. So it naturally pushes people to identify with that which is the most advantageous - same as life has always been.

I completely agree with what you said in this video. I recently just started going to church and joined a bible study this year as a way of "exploring the faith". I can already tell you Christianity isn't for me. There's just way too many questions I have about everything and I've always been a free thinker, I don't like conforming to other people's ideas and beliefs. I appreciate the morals/values behind being a Christian but I can't fully accept everything about Christianity.

This was a bit of an aha moment for me. It not only helps me understand the nature of my Finnish grandparents whom I remember from my boyhood and my father, but I think it gives me some insights into myself as well. Though I am only half Finn I surely feel now more than ever that it is the dominant half. I find it oddly amusing. Kiitos kun jaoit tämän.

Fun fact about the meaning of the name Runeberg, the famous finnish poet of the past. Rune means a rune, a viking, maybe norvegian, mystical tattoo or drawing of sorts, which you use to do spiritual stuff like cast away unwanted spirits or boost your happiness or something. I don't know much about runes really, but they've been a thing in Norvegian culture for a good time I think. And Berg means mountain. So, Runeberg is this mystical mountain that brings you spiritual happiness and good times.

Also, if you Rachael or anyone reading this, are interested in REAL finnish top level cuisine, Helsinki might have things, I don't know, restaurants. But, once I visited the city of Rovaniemi in Lapland, northern Finland, and found a finnish restaurant there. That restaurant had the best food I've tasted to this day, and I've been a real culinarian eating real high-quality nice foods, not just pizza kebab but things like high-end sushi, best meats you can get on the market, Kimchi, Kombucha, you name it. I'll taste kobe beef this year I think, and go to Gordon Ramsay restaurant one day in this lifetime. But yeah, go to Rovaniemi and find that finnish authentic restaurant if you're interested! The appetizer there cost like 15 euros and it was... the very best of the best ever. Stinging nettle sauce with some carefully chosen vegetables made by a very skilled chef, who'd make my cooking skills look like a retard trying to solve quantum physics theories.

Persaukinen, the ass-open, saying, yes it does mean that you're broke, no money. I think it comes from if you consider the situation of having no money and you wanna make some to buy food and rent money so you survive. And what you do when you're broke and can't find any job? Sell your.. well, ass, like what people in Finland call houra, a prostitute. Opening your ass, really. I don't know if that's where it came from, but I think it fits.

Oh and I know I'm not allowed to tell this and could get locked up for just telling it, but lemme tell it anyhow. The "viedä saunan taakse", as you say it's what we did when someone in army during war time slept when he was supposed to watch the portable oven "kamiina" warming the tent, they took the guy who messed up behind sauna and shot him in the head. And now the part I shouldn't have written here according to our military law, but I still do, because I feel like it. Here: In my time in the army 20 years ago or so, the junior sergeant who was the first junior officer to find out about me sleeping on kipinä, on the fire-watch on the tent at night, he told me "sut pitäs viedä saunan taakse ja ampua. Kiitä onnees ettei oo sota". And he's right. Totally. It's my biggest mistake in the army times, and yeah. But hey, we still live and all. :) And the thing "sut pitäs viedä saunan taakse ja ampua. Kiitä onnees ettei oo sota" means in english: You should be taken behind the sauna and shoot you. Thank your luck that it's not a war right now.

Great choice of Nightwish songs, the very best of them if you ask me. Tarja and Marko blew it open :D My suggestion for your next finnish song reaction, I have actually two suggestions, here: 1. Teräsbetoni - Taivas Lyö Tulta (great choice of lyrics and singer did his best for sure) 2. Vesa-Matti Loiri or Suvi Teräsniska I think - Varpunen Jouluaamuna (best finnish song ever to me, and this after me liking stuff like Kreator - Enemy of God!) So yeah :) those two suggestions, both finnish lyrics obviously, I bet you understand their meaning well, so I think you might really enjoy them. Is all. Thanks for the great content! :) Mikko Murmeloidi!

I'm one of the finns to who the new Nightwish without Tarja and Marko, did he too quit?, doesn't cut it like Tarja and Marko Nightwish back in the days did. You should do a reaction video on Phantom Of The Opera - Nightwish, where Tarja sings and Marko sings and plays the quitar. To me it's the best Nightwish song ever, very... you'll see. Keep it up :) Mikko Perkele!

Yeah, as a finnish native man, I really don't like USA. Once considered moving there for my online girlfriend, but gladly we split up peacefully. There's some amazing people in USA. I tell you some of their names, google them if you're interested. Paul Chek, Daniel Mapel, Rachel Fiori, Kaedrich Olsen (not sure if he lives in USA but I think he does), Jeremy Osentowski (not sure if I wrote the surname right, I'm sure he used to live in northern USA mountains). Folks like that who like you Rachael, work to make the world a better place. Not just chase money or some dream someone put in your head, but... do stuff that's "them". Stuff that makes real impact. So I would really like to meet all those people I listed here, have good talks with them, enjoy their company and wisdom... but. USA is loud noises, dry hot air mostly, people in a hurry only thinking of money and not getting kicked out of job by a cruel boss who doesn't care about the workers. Shizz... and the obesity and weakness, the flegmatic people you have... so much pointless gang violence, for what? For some money and a bad trip with drugs and abusing women? Shizz... just... not right. We have gangs too in Finland, and I've met and talked to some of their members, but they're pretty good people actually in their ways, not just robbing and shooting strangers though they do crimes maybe regularly... but they're still good people. I know it doesn't make sense for a lot of folks to call criminals and gang members good people, but.. people are people, regardless of what label you put on them, regardless of what you think of them and call them. In USA I get the feeling (never visited USA but from the people I've seen on youtube who are from USA) is that in USA you chase money like a mad dog, making yourself suffer so much just to eat the... junk, food. They call it JUNK food for a good reason. Makes you sick, weak. I just don't wanna be around people who can't think of anything else than money, put their priority number one money... ain't me, never really was. But yeah. You know, even the environmental minister of finnish government of today, the right-wing party member Kai Mykkänen, is what I'd consider a good minister in that position, except for one very basic and fundamental flaw. He doesn't seem to give a crap about our nature, just goes after green energy like solar power and windmill power and forgets the forests. To him money seems to be more important than nature. And that's his biggest flaw as our minister by far. He does not realize one very simple thing everyone can get easily: Money, is just paper and metal and plastic of credit cards and electricity of bank servers. Money... is really nothing more than that. We do use it as a way to say "hey I earned this so give me that" and obey money blindly. Kai doesn't realize that the thing people have called "Forest Bathing." Forest Bathing. Sorry for this long comment, I just hope that if you read this, you google one word: "Forest Bathing". I got quite solid reasons for saying it's the best thing people can do to themselves and to others. Done it myself and it changed me and my life from some weak crap to Mike Tyson on steroids, from sad and depressed and down to vibrant and happy. Forests do that. You get so much more from being in the woods, even best gym programs and best diets don't make up for what you can get outta being in nature. Just enjoying nature. I know nobody probably reads a long comment like this, but if you do... good for you, I'm glad for you. I may have told you on this comment the one secret that can elevate people to a whole new level. Even past the best gurus we have now, maybe. It's ridiculous how much better life is after that. Mikko Murmeli!

The greatest person I wanna meet in this life is Paul Chek. The guy has his flaws and imperfections for sure, but he's... on another level, you could say. Paul Chek lives in California I think, somewhere near San Diego if I remember right. There's lush nature and small mountains or big hills, I don't know which one to call those, where he lives. And not too many houses, nor roads, from the little I saw in his videos. So, it's probably a better place for a quiet finn like me than Texas. I doubt I could handle Texas for a day, because of the noise and the way people might think there. California is more what people call "new age" or "hippie" or stuff like that, that's for me. So I'll probably pop to Cali some year to meet my master Paul. But yeah, just wanna say thanks to you for this video, once again opened my eyes as a fiinnish man to Texas, and boy I won't go there.. Thanks :) Mikko Murmeli

Rachael, first of all, your finnish pronounciation is not flawless, not finnish level yet I'd say, but, it's a bit closer than what some english or foreign youtubers talking about their finnish experiences were like. You got the speech pretty much right already, nice! And I don't say that just to make a compliment, I do say it because I mean it, honestly, no fluff, no frills, no pop culture gun car nice house mentality with me. I take it bare and naked it like a real finn, and when I say something, I most often mean it, especially on the internet where I don't have to worry as much about people getting shocked about what I speak about. Yeah that happens too often if I speak my mind even in Finland here, where people are real and open-minded. So just so you know, you're really doing something right already. :) I think this is important for you to know about why finnish folks don't like what you call "small talk", so I share that too now. The reason for us, at least me, not liking the small talk, is: it's just not real for us. It's like a halloween party where your parents decide what you wear, where you go, and how you act, you having no saying in any of it even though it's supposed to be a fun party to have a good time. How can you have good time if you don't even listen to yourself, and act how you want to act? That's some very basic thing for me that's really beyond me. And don't get me wrong, I don't "hate" small talk as you call it, really, but I do see it something similar to using hard drugs that hurt you and make you miserable after the initial euphoria wears off, using those hard drugs just to pass the time and "have a little fun". Like that. I know most other countries people are way too used to their small talks compared to here. Here even the more superficial ones say what they mean, and at least try to stick to their own truths, even if they live in some lies and mind control programmings like going to dogmatic christian church or believing all science must be flawless and cannot be corrupted by anone or anything that practices the science. Those things are also very basic, but so many people even here where people are more real, don't still get it. I get it, maybe I'm some kinda "real finnish man" because of that. But it's in our culture to be real, quiet, yet storng-spirited and clear. And, one very successful guru, Paul Chek, has said that happiness comes so much more easily when you stop lies and live truthful life. And that's very true too. I used to lie about some things habitually as a finn for maybe a few decades, but when I stopped doing that and became clean about what I had lied about, and just started living true about everything and I mean every big and little thing you can think of... I started to be true about all things. Then, I became so much happier even though it's a gradual process you might not at first recognize. But when you look back a month or a year or some years, you see it so clearly really. But I finish writing this already-too-long and maybe too-schokcing comment here. To me these are very ordinary things really. But I've also realized many people live in a web of lies, you could say, web of ideas about what reality is, instead of trying to live in what they sense and think and feel and how people around them really react... I'm just saying, even here where we're quite obviously more "real", we too have our own webs of lies as I use the term, our own ideas about reality... but still. I'd say most of us have a more clear sense of reality than some other cultures, though other cultures do see things we don't, better... like how to keep up the talk all the time. That too bothers us. We just like peace and quiet, even during an intense conversation about interesting topics, it's natural for us to take long pauses between what we say, like "Yeah this one time camping in the woods......................... I walked there................... and I heard the bird sing, tome." Like that. Sorry, this is way too long a comment even though I tried to keep it short and only to the point. Man. Thanks for this video, you boviously have good senses and good adaptation skills when moving to another place. Good for you :) keep em up... Mikko Murmeli (Mikko is from archangel Michael, the protector saint angel of christian mythology, and Murmeli not my legal surname but it is my "real" surname and will be my legal one too... Murmeli means "Maromot", the rodent that stands still alot and is rbown. I had a brown pet rat among my four male pet rats once. So lovely creatures, especially the white rat and the brown rat, those two. The white one was very enlightened, more than me back then, and the brown one was so much like me, filled with life force and joy of life and company... he was always so happy and you could see it in his eyes, in the way he walked and gnawed on apartment liings too. His name was Elmo, and ot me he was a real Marmot, and because he was so dear to me and so much like me... I started calling myself Mikko Murmeli, saint Michael the Marmot). I just get so carried away whenever I make a comment, sorry... man.. Have a good one, and thanks for being so honest with the video, really appreciate that one. Mikko Murmeli!

I grew up hearing the Finnish elders (from Montana) talk about Findian but I didn't realize this is a real thing.

Hey Rachel. I am Mac. Maybe a cliche but I have been waiting for your new video for a long time. and I am so happy to see it. I am in Finland. I have watched every single video before I moved to Finland in 2021. Everytime I make a snow angel, I think of you. Hope to you here sometime soon. Mac Bauer

He stole all the humour in Finland, nothing left there, and ran away to America.

I know this is an old video but wanted to comment tho so: I love how much and how realistically you caught everything about life here in Finland. And I'm happy that you caught some of our habits too! My list on how to finnish (pretty much the same as yours): 1. You dont talk to strangers (there is literally no point, only talk to srangers if there is a purpose behind to it, like asking for directions) 2. Finnish people are very honest, you ask how was our day and we tell you excatly how shitty our day was. :D And the older we get, the more negative the response. 3. TAKE YOUR EFFING SHOES OFF. They bring in mostly the germs (think about how much people, spit, cough, piss and shit on the streets for the love of god people) 4. We love simplicity of life, meaning our apartments are small that fit exactly to what a person needs in their life. Also to what we consume. 5. We love nature, and we love our country to extreme. Our vacation is 4 weeks at our cottages by the lake side, listening to nothing but nature and our kids playing. We also work during our vacations, but that work is liberating kind of work. Meaning woodwork, renovations, cutting grass, chopping wood, fishing etch. And we will defend this lifestyle to the very last man or woman. 6. DARKNESS. We live with it most of our lives so that means coping with it too. And that means drinking alcohol, we drink. A LOT. Or by consuming us with work like, shedding snow or stuff like that. 7. We are rude, tough and aggressive people by nature. My view is that we are closest thing you come to a real viking. Most of us has been in a fight at least once in their life. And all the men and women have scars of that in some form. 8. For some reason, we love CARS. In the mechanical way, there is not many that does not know how to fix a car. 9. Finnish music, as in finnish METAL or ROCK. Our way to express our emotions, if you are in finland during the summer, you want to be at a festival. Preferably at TUSKA festival. 10. Food, our food is still based on our winter war with Russia. It is very simplistic, but refined over the years to be delicious. It might look apalling at first, but it's good! There could be more points to this but anyways! Thanks for spending time with us! <3

This was completely new information to me as a native Finnish. I knew lots of Finns went to Canada and States around the 1900, but never have I heard about Findians. Thank you for the video, really interesting!
